Inventory sheet

A short inventory page you can still maintain during a chaotic move.

Most moving inventory sheets fail because they ask for too much detail. A usable sheet tracks box number, room, rough contents, priority, and one note that helps you unload faster.

Keep the sheet short on purpose

An inventory page is not a home archive. It is a live unloading tool. The shorter the entry, the more likely someone updates it while the move is happening.

  • Use broad contents like plates, cables, winter coats.
  • Reserve notes for location or handling, not full descriptions.
  • Number boxes in order of packing, not by room fantasy system.

What the priority column is for

Priority helps when half the truck arrives before the rest. Open first, day one, and later is enough for most moves. Anything more detailed gets ignored fast.

  • Open first: sleeping, bathroom, daily kitchen, pet gear.
  • Day one: office setup, kid basics, cleaning tools.
  • Later: décor, seasonal storage, rarely used appliances.
